“Only 70% effective on pigeons!”
VECTORMUNE® FP-N is a genetically engineered live virus
vaccine for the vaccination of healthy fowls as
an aid in the prevention of Newcastle disease and fowl pox.
The fowl pox vector used in this vaccine has been genetically
modified to contain and express genes for the key protective
Newcastle disease virus (NDV) antigens as well as the full
complement of protective fowl pox virus (FPV) antigens.
The vaccine may be used subcutaneously in NDV maternal
antibody negative chickens at one day of age or older or by
wing web in FPV susceptible chickens at nine weeks of age or
older. NDV susceptible or primed chickens may be vaccinated
by the wing web route. The vaccine may be used subcutaneously
in turkeys at four weeks of age or older. Fowl receiving this vaccine must not have been previously
vaccinated with a fowl pox vaccine.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
1. Subcutaneous injection: Aseptically transfer 5 to 10 mL
of sterile diluent from the 200 mL diluent bottle to the
vaccine vial and mix until the lyophilized material is
rehydrated. Transfer the rehydrated vaccine back to the
diluent bottle and mix. Administer 0.2 mL per bird
subcutaneously in the loose skin on the back of the neck,
just below the head.
2. Wing web: Aseptically transfer the entire 10 mL of sterile
diluent to the vaccine vial and mix until the lyophilized
material is rehydrated. Administer one dose per bird using
a two-pronged wing web applicator designed to deliver
0.01 mL per bird. Stab the underside of the webbed
portion of the wing, avoiding blood vessels, bone, wing
muscles, and feathered areas.
Fowl receiving this vaccine must not have
been previously vaccinated with a fowl pox vaccine.
